TSMC reported record third-quarter 2026 results on October 15: revenue of NT$1.49 trillion, or $46.72 billion, up 50.9% in local currency, and net income up 68.7%, driven by demand for chips used in AI. A day earlier, Gartner warned that more than $3.5 trillion of planned AI infrastructure spending could be exposed to impairment by 2030 if AI revenue doesn't catch up. Both can be true: the companies selling chips are making record profits now, while the companies buying them still have to prove the returns. For marketers, that means AI tools will keep improving, but vendor consolidation is coming, so budgets should favor proven value and flexible contracts.
